DMZ Vietnam Tour from Hue
Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Hue. After a short briefing about the day ahead, we’ll begin our drive north along National Highway 1 towards Quang Tri Province, passing peaceful countryside scenery and local villages along the way.
Our first stop is Long Hung Church, a site that still bears the scars of war. This once-beautiful Catholic church was heavily bombed during the fierce battles of 1972 and now stands as a powerful reminder of the devastation of war.
Continue to Doc Mieu Base, an important part of the McNamara Line – a network of electronic fences, minefields, and fortifications designed to prevent infiltration from North to South Vietnam. Although only ruins remain, the site gives a vivid impression of the strategic military efforts in this region.
Arrive at Hien Luong Bridge, the historic marker of the 17th parallel where Vietnam was once divided into North and South. Walk across the bridge, visit the flag tower, and explore the small museum where photographs and exhibits tell moving stories of separation, hope, and reunification.
Enjoy a break for lunch at a local restaurant. You can sample authentic Central Vietnamese dishes (lunch cost not included in the tour price). Your guide can recommend options depending on your preferences.

After lunch, we drive east toward the coast to visit the famous Vinh Moc Tunnels. These tunnels were hand-dug by villagers to escape constant bombing and lived in for years during the war. You'll walk through different sections, visit family living spaces, meeting rooms, and even a maternity room underground. Hearing the real-life stories from your guide will make this experience even more emotional and unforgettable.
We then travel inland to the mountainous area of Khe Sanh, the site of a major siege during the Tet Offensive in 1968. Visit the airstrip, remnants of bunkers, the museum displaying old weapons, helicopters, and planes, and listen to tales of the fierce battles fought here.
On the return journey, we cross Dakrong Bridge, a symbolic entrance to the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, used during the war for transporting supplies and troops. We also pass by small ethnic minority villages, offering you a glimpse into the traditional life of the Bru-Van Kieu people, one of Vietnam’s indigenous groups.
We drive back through the scenic countryside and return you safely to your hotel in Hue city by around 5:30 PM.

The DMZ Tour typically starts at 7:00 AM and ends around 5:30 PM. It’s a full-day tour that lasts approximately 10 to 11 hours, including driving time, sightseeing, and breaks.
The tour is suitable for most ages, but due to the historical and emotional nature of the sites, it’s generally recommended for children above 10 years old. The Vinh Moc Tunnels involve some bending and walking in tight spaces, so travellers with mobility issues may find certain parts challenging. Please let us know in advance if you have any concerns, and we can suggest adjustments.
It’s a good idea to bring comfortable walking shoes, light and breathable clothing, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, a small backpack, and a reusable water bottle. If you travel between November and February, a light jacket might be necessary, as the mornings and evenings can be cool.
Meals are not included in the tour price. We will stop at a local restaurant for lunch, where you can order dishes to your taste. Vietnamese food in Quang Tri is famous for its simplicity and flavour, and our guide will happily help you choose!
Yes, we are happy to customise the tour for private groups! If you have specific interests – such as visiting additional battlefields, old airstrips, or spending more time at certain sites – just let us know when booking. We can tailor the route to create the best experience for you and your group.
